The museum is located in Asheville in Western North Carolina, easily accessed via I-26, I-40, and Highway 19-23. Asheville is bounded principally by I-240 on the north side of the city, and I-40 on the south side. I-26 is now connected though to Tennessee on a very scenic highway.
The Museum is located in Room 315 of the Elm Building at A-B Technical Community College, it is handicap accessible. Following the directions below, you will enter this building from the parking lot.
We are just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway on the campus of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College
From I-40, take Exit 50 to Hendersonville Road (US 25 North) which becomes Biltmore Avenue. Stay in the right lane, go through 6 traffic lights and make a left turn on Victoria Road in the Mission hospital area. Go about 0.8 mile and you will see the historic 1845 Smith-McDowell House on a corner; turn right and go about 200 feet. You'll see the Elm building on your left and parking on both sides of the street. Park in a space with a white strips. Entering the Elm Building , go to the elevator in the middle and up to room 315 to the museum.
It's easier to find a space about 10 minutes before the hour.
(Note: If coming from I-240 on the north side of town, take exit 5B, a right on Charlotte Street, a left on Biltmore Avenue, and a right on Victoria Rd to the college area).
FROM I-240:
Take Exit 5B (Charlotte Street) toward downtown .5 mile, turn left onto Biltmore Avenue. In the vicinity of Mission St. Joseph Hospital, take a right on Victoria Road, and follow the directions above.
